Lois was born in Canton, MO and lived in Osage City, MO before moving to St. Paul, MN where her father was a professor at Concordia University. She graduated from Central High School and received a B.A. Psychology, magna cum laude, in 1949 from Univ. of MN. Lois met her husband Bob in 1947 during a basketball game in which he was the center for the Delta Gamma team of the Lutheran Student Assn. It was love at first sight! Lois’ beloved father married them on Thanksgiving Day 1949 at St. Stephanus Lutheran Church. Lois and her husband lived in Minneapolis, MN, Milwaukee, WI, New City, NY, Muskegon, MI, Plymouth, MN, Brentwood, TN and Murfreesboro, TN. Upon both of their retirements in 1989, Lois and Bob lived in TN April through October and TX November through March. In 2007 Lois moved to St. Therese at Oxbow Lake, Brooklyn Park, MN.

Lois loved listening to music, cooking, playing bridge, completing the NY Times crossword puzzles (in pen!), reading a book a day, musicals and Broadway shows, laughing, being with family and having fun with friends. Lois touched the lives of many people with her smile, tireless volunteer work, generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Above all, Lois was a servant of the Lord whose actions were a direct result of her steadfast belief that “We are our brother’s keeper.” She was Baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in St. Paul, MN and remained true to her church home regardless of the city in which she lived and served in many capacities in the Church. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to support the work of Grace Lutheran Church, 811 E. Clark Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37130 or Concordia University, 275 Syndicate St. N., St. Paul, MN 55104. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday at WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL in Murfreesboro, TN (615) 893-5151. Condolences may be made online at www.woodfinchapel.com
