RemoteProgrammer

Both the Total Home system and System 7000 requires the use of a PC based programmer to make configuration changes to the system.

The programing both local and remote is performed via a modem and the RJ-31 jack inside the control panel. When the system is connected to a phone line the programming can be done via the programmer after permission is given via the local control panel to do so.

The programmer requires the use of a 2400 baud Hayes compatible modem that supports reverse calling.

The modem may be connected to serial communication ports 1, 2, or 3.

The programmer is a DOS program and has been tested to run inside a DOS box on Windows XP. Sometimes configuring the Windows system to support this can be a bit tricky, I remember having to use a program that remapped some of the hardware to make it work.

Tested compatible modems are:

     Hayes SmartModem 2400 (model 231AA),
     Edison Super Modem 2400,
     Zoom MX2400R,
     Zoom FaxModem FX9624,

     US Robotics Sportster 14.4 Faxmodem,
Zoom FaxModem FX9624V (aka FAXMODEM 96V),
     ZOOM/MODEM V.42BIS, and
Megahertz XJ1144 (PCMCIA card) if it has chipset C40,
     Megahertz XJ2144 (PCMCIA card), and
     Zoltrix FM-144ATI Internal Fax/Modem.
